Nursing Programs Close to Home

Ranger College offers Vocational Nursing, Bridge and Registered Nurse Programs. Our nursing programs are offered in Early Center. VN and RN programs start in the fall semester and Bridge program in the winter.

Ranger College, in cooperation with area clinical partners, continue their partnership to train nursing students. Ranger College had 17 VN and 49 ADN graduates in 2019.

Vocational Nursing

Ranger College offers a one-year VN Program with approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Texas State Board of Nursing (BON). The program begins each August, or Fall semester, and progresses through the Spring and Summer semesters, completing in the subsequent August.

Upon satisfactory completion of the program, the student will be awarded a certificate of completion. Once the BON receives an affidavit of graduation (AOG), they will issue graduates a temporary license (graduate nurse or GVN) and an authorization to test (ATT). The ATT entitles the student to take the licensing NCLEX examination. Graduates who pass the NCLEX will be licensed as a Vocational Nurse by the BON.

Registered Nurse

The Labor Department projects the addition of about 440,000 new job openings for RNs through 2024, and nearly 700,000 retirements in the field. This makes a nursing degree a sure bet.

Ranger College offers a two-year RN Program with approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Texas State Board of Nursing (BON).

Ranger College has high-fidelity mannequins (adult, pediatric and infant), audio-visual recording capabilities and a debrief room. Our Nursing Program also has a Maternal-Neonatal simulator which allows students to experience normal as well as complex birthing scenarios. The use of simulation enhances learning outcomes, allows patient safety and ethical concerns that often arise in the clinical setting to be addressed and prepares students to safely transition into their clinical practice.  Our simulation lab is the only one of its kind in the seven surrounding counties.

Bridge Program

Ranger also offers a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to Registered Nurse (RN) Bridge Program with approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Texas State Board of Nursing (BON). The program combines the first two semesters of the traditional RN Program into one semester and then allows the students to join their ADN colleagues in the third semester and complete the program.
